LAKKI MARWAT: At least seven people were killed and more than 18 others were injured in an explosion near Naurang police station in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district on Tuesday, according to police and hospital authorities.
Earlier, Rescue 1122 said an explosion had been reported in the Sarai Naurang tehsil of Lakki Marwat. In a statement, Rescue 1122 spokesperson Shahdab Khan said ambulances and rescue teams had been dispatched to the site of the incident.
Police said the blast took place near a rickshaw in Naurang Bazaar in the Sarai Naurang area. Hospital administration said the bodies of seven people killed in the explosion were shifted to Naurang Hospital.
Officials said two traffic police personnel were also among those martyred in the blast. Hospital authorities said the injured brought to the hospital included women and children.
Following the incident, an emergency was declared at Sarai Naurang Hospital, the hospital administration confirmed.
